These easy DIY recipes will give you some great ideas next time you run out… Whether you like pina colada or use essential oils, I have it covered
Here are the ones I really like:
DIY Unicorn Sugar Scrub
Source: Happiness is Homemade
After reading about the numerous benefits of using your own homemade sugar scrubs, I will not be going back to store made chemical brands
Plus, my little Casey loves making these with me, and it is has become such a fun activity for us
This DIY unicorn sugar scrub is her favorite! It’s shimmery, sparkly, and leaves skin so smooth and smelling amazing. I love the pink blue and purple colors that resemble a unicorn, and it’s so pretty looking sitting in our bathroom
The best thing…it takes only 10 minutes to make. Absolutely magical
Lemon Coconut
Source: Life Currents
This lemon coconut sugar scrub with lavender flowers makes the absolute perfect gift
It’s cheap, while still looking and smelling expensive, and the scent is so fresh. You or your loved one will love the way that it smells and feels on the skin
The addition to the lavender flowers in the mason jar is hardly an optional aesthetic touch, even though you can technically choose not to add them. I always have essential oils in “lavender” on hand
It is said to help ease feelings of tension, and soothe skin irritations. Whether you’re creating a gift or pampering yourself, you can never go wrong with this one!
Passion Tea
Source: A Pumpkin & A Princess
Ahh summers in Michigan. Hair gets lighter, water gets warmer, drinks get colder, nights get longer, and life just. gets. better ?
Every summer for us in this Mitten state is like leaving a 6 month freezing and dark hibernation. Even the sun hurts our eyes at first because we haven’t seen it so long!
This DIY passion tea sugar scrub screams summer. From the pink sand-like color to the tropical smell, it will give you those warm summer vibes you need in your life
The tropical scent mixed with a combination of citrus, rose hip, and passion fruit will leave your skin smelling, and feeling fresh
Show somebody you love them to the beach and back with this scrub!
Coconut Lime Body Scrub
Source: Happy Money Saver
When you’re deep into the summer months and your skin has taken a little too much Vitamin D, this is the skin-saving DIY sugar scrub you need
The coconut oil in this scrub is a crucial moisturizer, while the sugar is an exfoliant. When you add lime essential oil you get an amazing scent that is refreshing, and rejuvenating
This sugar scrub creates a gentle abrasion to smooth out the skin tone. It removes accumulated dead and damaged skin cells caused by sun exposure and pollution
There’s a reason this coconut lime sugar scrub is in the limelight!
Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub Recipe
Source: Somewhat Simple
I don’t know what I like most about this DIY vanilla brown sugar scrub; the way it looks, the way it smells, or the way it feels on the skin!
So what’s the difference between using brown sugar as opposed to white?
According to “skincare”, brown sugar is gentler, making it ideal for super-sensitive skin. The benefits of a brown sugar scrub extend not just to the body, but also the scalp
Many women with highly sensitive, dandruff-prone scalps find that a brown sugar scrub prior to washing or treating results in healthier, happier hair
In my opinion, the biggest benefit is the smell. Brown sugar, when used on the skin, has a very deep, rich smell
Pour some (brown) sugar on me!
Chamomile Calming Salt Scrub
Source: Building Our Story
If you don’t already know this about me, I am a believer in essential oils
I have studied which scents are good for what moods and needs, and my diffuser is always on and working its magic. It’s been really easy for me to switch over to DIY sugar scrubs
Aside from the well-known fact that they are a cheaper alternative to store bought lotions, they also lack additives and harsh chemicals that can actually hurt the skin, not help
Chamomile is said to help fight anxiety and depression, boost skin health, and even reduce symptoms of insomnia. That’s why you may see chamomile night time tea on the shelf at your local supermarket, and it actually works!
When you’re fighting a bad day, having a hard time sleeping, need that extra skin booth, or are just looking to pamper yourself with a calm shower or bath, this is the scrub for you to make
I have used this on several different occasions when I’ve had a bad day and I can honestly say it really is a calming scrub with a fresh scent
Keep calm and chamomile!
DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub
Source: To Simply Inspire
Lemon is definitely one of my favorite clean scents, and a lot of store-bought lotions and scrubs have been infused with it
Why? Because lemon is rich in Vitamin C and Citric Acid, so it leaves your skin brighter after every use
All you need for this DIY lemon sugar scrub is sugar, coconut oil, and lemon juice, that’s it! I can imagine most of us already have these things lying around at home
I use this scrub anytime I’m running out, or have a guest coming and don’t want them covered in sparkles or the more unique scrubs I make with my kids
When life hands you lemon… make this freshening lemon scrub!
Detoxifying Activated Charcoal Sugar Scrub with Essential Oils
Source: Happy Mothering
Charcoal is quite the craze right now for skin and teeth, and it doesn’t go without reason
There’s something about using charcoal in my scrubs that just gives me that extra clean feeling and leaves my skin feeling clear and soft. She used some of her favorite essential oils, including lavender, but you could customize oils you use to fit your health or mood needs
And let’s not forget, a diamond is just charcoal that handled stress exceptionally well, after all!
Green Tea
Source: Savvy Naturalista
I’ve always been obsessed with green tea, but I was more of a drinker than a scrubber
A couple of years we decided to take a trip to Thailand… 21 hours and a 9-hour layover later and I was finally there!
While we were exploring some of the islands I, unfortunately, ignored our nice Thai guide and followed in my husband’s footsteps, jumping off of a small cliff
I hit a rock, and immediately my ankle was in searing pain. I had to be carried around for the rest of the trip, and our day was essentially ruined ?
Our guide was so sweet to us, and he even went across the street and bought me some ointment. It felt like Icy Hot but had a numerous amount of GREEN TEA in it
But why? It turns out green tea is not only beneficial for your digestion and appetite but for your entire body as well
According to a study conducted by the Medical College of Georgia in 2003, green tea helps in skin rejuvenation. It can be used to treat skin diseases and wounds as well
Ever since that day, I’ve been quick to try scrubs infused with green tea, and this is one of the best! I love the kiwi color it gives, the fresh smell, and the way it leaves my skin feeling
If you have any irritation or soreness on your skin I highly recommend this scrub with green tea!
Raspberry Lemon
Source: Reasons To Skip The Housework
This lemon raspberry sugar scrub is sure to help you squeeze the day!
Pretty in pink and smelling like summer, this will give your skin a fresh and breezy scent perfect for those long summer days and nights
What I like so much about this recipe is the simple ingredients used, and how few there are. I love adding lemon to sugar scrubs because you really can’t get a much cleaner scent than that and the raspberry helps with the color of the scrub and for skin rejuvenation
This is so aesthetically pleasing, so it would be a great gift too!
Show somebody they are your main squeeze with this lemon raspberry sugar scrub today!
Mint Sugar Scrub
Source: Suburban Simplicity
There is NOTHING fresher than the smell of mint!
What I love so much about this mint sugar scrub is that you do get the smell of the peppermint essential oil, but the scent balances out with the coconut oil and sugar. Peppermint essential oils decrease congestion, increase alertness and concentration, and reduce inflammation among many other benefits
This is a great scrub to use when you have a cold or are feeling sick, and I keep it in my cabinet for moments like that for my kids and I to use as needed
You’re mint to try this one out!
DIY Coconut Oatmeal
Source: Meg O On The Go
Please don’t tell me I was the only one who had to take oatmeal baths as a kid when I had chicken pox?
The weirdest part about doing that was how well it freaking worked bathing with oatmeal!
I mean I literally wasn’t itchy anymore and as soon as I stepped out I wanted to step right back in. That’s because oatmeal is an amazing ingredient in skincare…
It can actually lift dirt effectively from the surface of the skin and it is also a mild skin exfoliant to help remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and leave it soft and smooth and healthy. I can seriously feel the oatmeal working and scrubbing away at dead skin when I use scrubs with oatmeal in them
I also love the sandy color it gives off, and a fresh scent that has a hint of spicy mixed with coconut oil
Plus, the ingredients are all essentially house ingredients most people have without buying anything and it’s extremely fast and simple
You’ll wanna take a time oat from your life and give this one a try
Mermaid Sugar Scrub
Source: Nerdy Mamma
My little Casey hates baths… Ever since she was a baby it has been a task to get that girl clean. She just doesn’t find enjoyment in playing with toys in the water like my son always did (and still does) and it’s just flat out… annoying ?
Like, give me a half hour away from you child!
But, a couple of months ago I found the secret to getting her to enjoy them and my life has been CHANGED! She loves mermaids. She watches The Little Mermaid weekly, and her favorite doll is a mermaid with blue and pink hair
I told a lie to my daughter. I told her that her Mermaid needed baths every other day, and needs to be scrubbed with her mermaid soap otherwise her hair might fall out
My daughter finds it crucial to make sure mermaid gets her bath, and it’s easy to use this sugar scrub on her too. It smells amazing, has an awesome blue mermaid-like color to it, and only takes a couple of minutes to make
I was using it for a while because I just flat out love the smell, but it’s been claimed by a little girl and a little mermaid now and I am A-okay with that!
Piña Colada Sugar Scrub & Mini Soaps
Source: Happiness is Homemade
If you like Pina Coladas, or getting caught in the… bath!
This sugar scrub looks just as good as it feels and smells on the skin
The pineapple fragrance used for this scrub leaves me feeling fresh just like a tropical lotion does from bath and body works and the coconut oil and sugar mixed in do wonders for my skin
This is one of those scrubs perfect for summer, and perfect to use as a gift because of how gorgeous the color turns out. I love the addition to the little umbrella in this glass jar, it really takes me right to the beach from my bathroom
This is a must try!
Lemon Sugar
Source: Ruffles & Rain Boots
Have you guys heard of sugar scrub CUBES?
They are made almost exactly like the usual sugar scrubs that you fill into a jar only cube form
Some people like them better because you don’t have to worry about dumping scrub on the counter or about any moisture inside the jar with the scrub because you can just get the cube out before you get in the shower or bath
This could be a great alternative if you have little ones at home who might make a mess but you still want them scrubbed naturally
You can give them a cube and let them do whatever they want with it without worrying about the entire tub getting knocked over (yes that has happened to me it’s depressing)
This lemon sugar scrub is just like the lemon one posted earlier but in cube form ?
It’s fresh, has amazing skin benefits, and will leave your skin brighter and clearer after every use. Lemon is pretty versatile and most everybody loves the scent, so it would make a perfect gift too!
Peppermint Sugar Scrub Recipe
Source: Hot Beauty Health
So this peppermint sugar scrub was actually gifted to ME from one of my best friends over the last holiday and my goodness, it has been such a game changer!
The jar used for this is huge so you get so much bang for your buck, and it’s the perfect winter scent
If you’re trying to get someone to go the natural route this is the perfect gift idea, and the candy cane colors will put them right in the mood for winter
This leaves my skin feeling minty fresh, and rejuvenated. You absolutely cannot go wrong with this one!
Coconut Oil
Source: The Palette Muse
If you’re a first time sugar scrubber this is the perfect recipe for you
With just three ingredients, it’s a simple recipe that still gives you all the necessary benefits. There’s nothing fancy to this; just sugar, coconut oil, and peppermint essential oil
I always have a jar of this on hand because of the simplicity, and how cheap it is! You can also customize and use a different essential oil if you want to, but this has a great scent!
