Whether you already have your theme picked out for the month or not, it’s always nice to get some inspiration before you start planning! I tried to include a nice variety so you’ll find something no matter what you’re going with… These May monthly cover ideas will spark your creativity and definitely help even if you take inspiration from just one small thing
Here are the May spreads I like:
May Travel Theme

I’m in LOVE with this travel theme monthly cover. The ripped map is such a great idea! Everything from the paper plane to the quote on the bottom, this theme is so complete. If you don’t have a map or just want to go super simple, this monthly cover would still look cute with just the May title and the paper plane. Skip the jetlag with this cover!

Lemonade Cover Page

The way she filled in the entire page with the doodles is adorable! You could take inspiration from this cover and create something similar with different doodles that would fit your monthly theme! But if you have a yellow theme going this would work perfectly… Find the right mix of sweet and sour with this lemonade themed spread!
MAY The Force Be With You

Any Starwars fans out there? If so, then look no further! The drawing and colors of the bb8 is amazing… I’m not the best at drawing so I really like the way they set up the May text with the negative space stars! That would also be a great way to add some flair to your space theme if you’re going that route
Butterfly Cover

Speaking of amazing drawings… how about this butterfly one?! Gorgeous! I love the detail and the shadowing on the wings of the butterfly which makes it really stand out. A monthly cover with multiple different colored butterflies would also look super cute. (if you can draw them lol) Spread your wings and enjoy spring!

Adventure Monthly Cover

It’s time to explore with this monthly cover! The doodles make me think of things you would take on a long hike if you were in a fairy tale. Whether you’re running into a dragon or just walking through the forest, these are definitely the things you would pack. Plus, you could take inspiration from the key doodle and use that to set up your bujo key page. Be prepared for anything!
Black & White May Cover

This is the perfect cover to provide contrast to the ones above! If you want a simple, black and white spread, then this one is for you… I love how cute the flowers are on top of the lily pads! The way she added the ripples on each side really brings the spread to life. The minimalist drawing and the quote at the bottom makes this cover well rounded in my opinion. “What we do today matters the most”
Cassette Tape Spread

I love how they have three different variations to the cassette tapes so they fill out the entire spread. My personal favorite one is the bottom but that’s just me! They would also look super cool in other musical themes and could be easier if you made them smaller without so much detail. Throw these in your walkman and jam out this May!
Cute Space Theme

This May cover spread is right up my alley! I love the antique vibe of the colors and there’s nothing better than using super cute stickers to complete the overall look. Plus, filling out things with the little start doodles is something you could add to a lot of different pages in your bujo. This is the perfect “classy” space theme!
Alice In Wonderland Cover

Here’s the ultimate monthly cover for Alice In Wonderland fans! The illustration is absolutely amazing… The way she’s looking through the keyhole into Wonderland really tells the story. While I know I wouldn’t be able to draw something like this, I still like the layout of the spread with it taking up two pages. Plus, the May text is simple enough that you could use it for any month really
May Cactus Cover
Now I know cactus and succulent themes are all the rage right now so I had to include this cute spread! I love how they aren’t super realistic and it gives it a fun, playful vibe. But even better is the fact that they look easier to draw than some of the other ones I’ve seen. The real thing that sets this cover apart is the way she painted them… Perfect!
May Cover Spread

Gosh… this cover page is adorable! The way she used the ripped grid paper and washi tape makes it look random but put together at the same time! Not to mention the cute floral doodles to fill out the spread. I think it has the perfect balance and looks amazing… Recycle those messed pages with this creative monthly cover!
Boba Tea Cover

Boba and bujo doodles?! How fun! I love that this May monthly cover is relatively simple so even if you’re just starting off in your bullet journal journey, this is one you could take inspiration from. Also, if you aren’t going with an animal theme, the way she has the May text setup is awesome!
May Washi Tape Cover

Sticking with the washi tape theme, this one is another great one that I could pull off! I love that with these types of monthly covers, you don’t have to be super creative with the doodles but they still look cute. Plus, the way she has the floral patterns in each corner really gives it that springtime vibe!
Easy May Cover

Looking for a super simple monthly cover!? If so, this easy black and white spread should spark some ideas! The way the May text and calendar is setup would look great by itself but it’s made even better with those flowers beneath. This is another cover page that would be great for beginners!

I love this creative cover and haven’t really seen anything similar before! She also has the same theme carried out in her mood tracker and other pages… so definitely check out her Instagram for more ideas. The best part is that, like the example above, its simple enough that you don’t need any crazy drawing skills to set up something like it!
May Watercolor Cover

This watercolor cover page is amazing!! I love the night time vibe / theme it has to it and the famous quote “less is more” really holds true on this one. The simplicity of the May text paired with the subtle details like the stars and splatters in the background makes this spread so cute! Plus, the fact that it’s not the typical space theme but still incorporates a moon is a big win in my book lol
Hello May

While I know I already included a lemonade theme, I still had to include this incredible monthly cover… This full spread with the super vibrant colors makes this cover really stand out! It just screams “fresh” to me and in my opinion, is the perfect spring spread to end the season with. Full spread monthly cover page not your style!? Perfect… this one is something that would work in a beginner’s bullet journal or even the most seasonal bujo pro! The crisp lines you can get with a stencil really helps to keep the clean look when you’re going basic like this. If you’re getting a late start to May and just want to keep it easy this month, then this one is for you!
May Full Page Cover

Coming from the example above, this might be the exact opposite lol… Don’t get me wrong, I totally love simple monthly covers, but there’s something about how the doodles on this full-page spread all work together that’s just super satisfying. The best thing is that it looks pretty complex at first glance but its actually pretty easy to set up. If you start with the “vines” and add different colored leaves as you go, you’ll have a similar spread in no time!
Balloon Cover Spread

This “party” theme cover page is too cute! Everything from the balloons to the confetti in the background, this spreads theme is just so complete. I love how she used pastel colors to give it the perfect look. One thing you could take from this cover would be that banner at the top… I think it would work for plenty of different themes and would look great in any color!
