I picked out a wide variety of different crafts so whether your child loves Captain Underpants or Mermaids… there’s something here for you!
Here are the ones I really like:
Toilet Roll Ninjas
Source: Kids Activities Blog
“The first priority of a ninja is to win without fighting” – Masaaki Hatsumi
This easy toilet roll ninja is an absolute winner in my book! These take only three items: toilet rolls, straws, and construction paper… They are easy to do and turn out super cool. My son and our little neighbor friend came over and we made these together and they had a blast playing with them afterward!
Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Elf
Source: A Mom’s Impression
This Elf Christmas DIY craft is too cute to pass up! Some toilet tube crafts turn out very simple and almost mediocre looking… but not this one. I’m sure everyone has heard of the “elf on the shelf”, right? Well, in our household this Christmas we had a “toilet tube on the toilet.” If you’re working on potty training like we are, this is such an interactive and fun way to get your little one to use the bathroom. Instead of the Elf looking for the kids to do nice things and watching when they don’t, toilet tube elf was watching Casey use the potty all by herself!
Paper Roll Airplane
Source: Molly Moo Crafts
This craft is so fly! This DIY airplane project uses…wait, that can’t be right… yep, just a cardboard toilet paper roll. That’s it, that’s all you need to make it! Simple to make and perfect for your little pilot, what could be better than that? This is a great activity when you need something to do with your kiddo and you don’t want to have to gather everything under the sun, as well as spend hours doing it too. The best part about it is that it actually flies too!
Toilet Paper Roll Gingerbread Man
Source: Meaningful Mama
Run, run, as fast as you can, I’m the TOILET TUBE Gingerbread man! If you’re looking for a holiday project to bring to school or just something to put your kids in the holiday mood, this DIY Gingerbread toilet tube man is the activity for you. The items needed are all recycled, it’s inexpensive, and it turns out super cute too! My little ones could make their own unique gingerbread man and all of ours turned out differently. This is awesome!
Valentine’s Day Treat Poppers Craft
Source: Happy Mothering
You NEED to see these adorable Valentine’s Day treat poppers made out of toilet tubes! I was so sad I didn’t stumble into this project sooner. Our family loves to make our Vday cards unique for the kids at school and this would have been absolutely perfect for that… You can fill these poppers with confetti, candy, sparkles, anything to tailor what you’re looking for the effect to be. My kids and I will be doing this craft next year and I’ll update the blog when I do!
Paper Roll Batman and Robin
Source: The Craft Train
I’m not saying I’m Batman, I’m just saying nobody has ever seen me and Batman in a room together… This Batman and Robin toilet tube craft is awesome! The new Lego movie really set the stage for the comeback of these two superheroes and I’m all about it. I grew up on Batman, and my dad was one of those comic dads for sure. My kids now love Batman and Robin just like I do and I jumped at the opportunity to try this craft out. It will not disappoint!
Paper Roll Spring Flowers Craft
Source: Things To Share & Remember
Spring is in the air, or is it? I live in West Michigan and if you guys have been keeping up with the news then you’ve seen those 88 car pileups, power outages, and bitterly cold temperatures. These things have all been happening in my backyard and every day I wake up and think about packing my bags and getting the heck out of this polar vortex of misery. The temperatures have slowly started to increase and I saw the sun for the first time in a long time last week and it reminded me how beautiful spring and summer in our mitten state truly is. I rounded up the troops (my children LOL) and the toilet tubes, and we made these DIY spring flowers. They stand on their own, turn out adorable, and you can teach your kids about using recyclable items while enjoying creating these cute little flower masterpieces!
Toilet Paper Roll Bee Craft for Kids
Source: Easy Peasy and Fun
Did you know the Bumblebee does something impossible every day? According to classical aerodynamics, it’s not possible for Bees to fly. Isn’t that something? I decided this was an important lesson to teach my little worker bees….wake up every day, and try to do the impossible! This paper roll bee crafty for kids are adorable, fun, and extremely simple. All it takes is a toilet or paper roll tube, some construction paper, and scissors. Plus, it turns out SO cute!
Toilet Paper Roll Christmas Tree Craft
Source: The Resourceful Mama
Never worry about the size of your Christmas tree. In the eyes of children, they are all 30 ft tall. Okay, maybe not this toilet paper roll Christmas tree… but it makes up for its size in cuteness! This DIY simple and fun craft is perfect to get you in the holiday mood and can be used as a homemade ornament as well. Casey made this tree and she used it as her stuffed bears Christmas tree and even put a couple of pieces of candy under it for her “Beary”, it was absolutely adorable!
Paper Roll Animals
Source: Frugal Fun For Boys and Girls
The possibilities are endless with these DIY toilet paper roll crafts! This tutorial will show you how to make elephants, lions, tigers, monkeys, or an alligator all with recycled items. I personally loved the lion family but the monkey seemed like the easiest to make if you and your kids are toilet tube beginners. Check them out!
Toilet Paper Tube Mermaids

Ahh summer… we are almost there! Cold drinks by the pool, kids outside playing all day long, and gorgeous sunsets on the lake. Our Michigan family soaks up every second of summer before we hibernate for a good 6 months… This Hula Girl and Mermaid friend toilet tube craft is absolutely MERmazing! This is a very cute and girly craft made for our little mermaid lovers. I love this one!

Toilet Roll Love Bugs for Valentine’s Day
Source: Red Ted Art’s Blog
This Valentine’s day DIY love bug is a must do. Every month I aim to complete a “mommy project” where I create something to give to my kids, made by me! Recently, Casey has been doing monthly, sometimes weekly, “Casey Projects” and I tell you what, it made all of my crafts worth it… This February I received this love bug from her on Valentine’s Day. When I tell you my eyes were a river… I mean seriously when you see how cute these are you will understand why I lost it! The Love Bug came with a card from my husband because he helped her with this one and I finally coaxed him into telling me where he found this amazing idea. Turns out, this is what sparked the idea for this entire post. Make somebody’s February with these adorable love bugs!
Shark Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Source: Glue Sticks and Gumdrops
School these fish with this JAWsome shark toilet paper roll craft! Shark week is essentially a holiday in our house. Last year we made Jello with Swedish fish inside, had a cookie cake made in the shape of a shark, and we even got the kid’s fins to wear around the house. After Casey went to bed (she is way too young to realize how scary sharks are) we cuddled up and would watch together for an hour every night. This would be a perfect school craft during shark week, or you can make it if you’re celebrating in your house too!
DIY Captain Underpants
Source: The Craft Train
Did you see the new Captain Underpants movie yet? I could not have been more excited when I heard this movie was coming out. I was SO excited, we were at the theatre on premiere night! My little Mitch absolutely loves comics (he gets this from his dad of course) The movie was a 10/10 and so is this Captain Underpants DIY paper roll craft. It’s unique, cute, and easy to make. I love the “Traa Lala” speech bubble addition to this, absolutely amazing!
Toilet Paper Roll Leprechaun Hat Craft
Source: The Resourceful Mama
You’ve gotta try your luck at least once per day, because you could be going around lucky all day and not even know it! Our little ones got lucky when I stumbled into this craft last year JUST in time for St. Patrick’s Day. This DIY leprechaun hat is something that is not only super fun to make with the kids, but something we actually used. Both our Casey and Mitchell wore their hats to school on St. Patricks’ Day and both of them said the kids in their classes talked all day about how awesome their hats were! Plus, they were able to say “I made this” which is always my favorite part about doing this with them. Shamrocks and shenanigans for all!
Toilet Paper Roll Grinch
Source: Crafts by Courtney
When the Grinch said, “am I just eating because I’m bored?”… I felt that ? In fact, I felt that way too much this Holiday season. Take a break from the self-loathing this holiday season and make this DIY toilet paper roll grinch! It’s green, angry, and ready to steal your hearts and your presents! Kids love the Grinch, and they laugh at everything he does. So I guess what that means is I need to be a lot more negative and cold-hearted and my kids will think I’m hilarious? But seriously this project is must do over the holiday season. Turn on some Christmas music (even though it’s too joyful and triumphant for the Grinch), sip on some hot chocolate, and enjoy this craft!
DIY Birdhouse Craft
Source: Hello Wonderful
This adorable Birdhouse Toilet Tube craft is perfect for spring and summer! One of my fondest childhood memories I have of my mom and me shopping for birdhouses throughout the summers. She had a collection that she kept above one of the windows in our home out to the back porch and she absolutely loved them. This year my kids and I spent a little time doing this craft so they could give it to their Grammy on mother’s day. This, along with some homemade cards made its way over to her home and when she opened it she teared up. I could tell it was something so special to her, and it stays in her back porch now. If you, your kids, or someone special in your life loves birdhouses you won’t want to miss out on this one!
Paper Roll Fire Breathing Dragon
Source: One Little Project
This paper roll dragon craft is here just in time for the Chinese New Year! This would be a perfect craft to make with your kids and educate them on different cultures and Holidays in other parts of the world. Plus, it’s hilarious and unique too! The Dragon is breathing fire and your kids can blow in the toilet tube hole and get a kick out of it. This is definitely one of a kind!
Toilet Paper Roll Easter Bunny Craft

This adorable DIY toilet paper roll Easter bunny craft is just too cute to pass up! The end result of this project is giant and decorative bunny ears. You can choose your own colors, or follow the tutorial because the spring colors they picked are gorgeous. This is a perfect Easter time craft and would look very pretty in a garden, or in your little one’s bedroom. When we made our giant bunny ears we even added glitter, because why not? Cardboard Tube Tiger Craft for Kids
Source: Creative Family Fun
My kids had the idea that because I’m on this recyclable tangent with our crafts, that we should make a toilet paper roll zoo! Mitchy even said “I bet we could make some money with this zoo” like the little entrepreneur in training he is. As I’m sure you can see from many crafts in this post, we have made a lot of animals for our new family business lol. This tiger is cute, fun, and extremely easy to make. Our kids also love the show “Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood” and if you too have fans at home this would also be a perfect craft for them!
Paper Roll Angel
Source: The Craft Train
In Casey’s room, we have a quote painted on her wall that says “you are loved little angel” I love angels. I love the way they look, the idea of guardian angels, and I love calling my kids little angels. You can ask my husband, I am a certified angel freak. It’s no surprise that I would jump at any opportunity to make anything having to do with an angel with my children. Casey joined me in this craft and it turned out SO cute. I mean seriously, when you see this you’re going to want to make it right away. There’s definitely room to be unique when it comes to this project, especially on the color of the hair. This was one of my absolute favorites!
Toilet Paper Roll Mummy Craft
Source: Glue Sticks and Gumdrops
This DIY toilet tube mummy craft is to DIE for, literally. This is the perfect activity for Halloween, and it turns out so good that you’ll definitely want to use it as a decoration for years to come. I love how she uses gauze to make the mummy. It’s pretty lifelike for just some recycled items. After seeing this craft my wheels started spinning and I think I know what my son is going to be for Halloween next year… Updates to come in the future!
Four Seasons Tree Craft
Source: Non-Toy Gifts
Oh, the unpredictableness of Michigan weather. One day it’s 50 and sunny and the next it’s -3 degrees and snowing. And oh yeah, this happens in MARCH. Currently, this is happening currently. When I start to think about the 5 months of winter I’ve witnessed this year I am typing and erasing swear words left and right. Please, help us in this mitten state! Something Michigan is great for though is the four seasons. With these seasons come beautiful changes in the tree’s that inhabit our mitten state, and many of the surrounding states around us. This DIY four seasons of trees toilet tube craft is both cute and educational. You can choose to make them all at once, or instead, you can educate your children on every season as it comes and goes. You will not be disappointed with this one!
Dr. Seuss Lorax Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Source: A Sparkle of Genius
“Unless someone like you cares an awful lot, it’s not going to get better. It’s not” – The Lorax.
Something about Dr. Seus just pulls right at my heartstrings. As a child, I enjoyed all of the books just as much as my children do today. It’s safe to say I could not have been happier that they made the famous Lorax into a movie a couple of years ago, and it’s one of my family’s favorites! If you like this movie or book just as much as we do then this Lorax toilet tube craft is the one for you!
Glowing TeaLight Olympic Torch
Source: Oh My Creative
Wow, this Olympic tea light torch made out a toilet paper roll is so unique and your kids are going to love it! Why? Because IT ACTUALLY LIGHTS UP! Our family goes hard for the Olympics, does yours? We spend hours in front of the TV together watching, and it’s one of the few times I don’t feel guilty about my kids being glued to the television. This craft is extremely aesthetically pleasing, and the glowing part really makes it one of the best toilet tube crafts out there. You need to see this!
Toilet Paper Roll Bird Feeder
>Source: Honey + Lime
This DIY bird feeder made out of a toilet paper roll is a must do! When I was little we made this in school and it was so awesome that I have vivid memories to this day of coming home, setting it up, and watching birds eat off of it. Oh, and squirrels… Lots and lots of squirrels. Many different critters will love eating off of this and your kids will love watching it happen! There are a lot of different DIY bird feeders but this one is recyclable, easy to make, and still turns super cute!
Snow Owl Ornaments
Source: Pams Party & Practical Tips
I remember when I first started seeing owls pop up at TJ Maxx, Home Goods, Macy’s, etc. I thought my secret was out. The one where you know, owls are IN! I’ve always been a huge fan of owls and I love that everybody else is too! This DIY snow owl ornament is glittery, pretty, and recyclable… three of my favorite words. If you love owls, and love crafts, this is the project for you. What I love about making ornaments with the kids is that every year when I put them on the tree I’m right back in that moment of making them and creating that memory. This craft is gorgeous!
Star Wars Toilet Paper Roll Figures
Source: Rock Your Home School
“The longing you seek is not behind you. It is in front of you” It is this star wars toilet paper roll figures craft! This craft hits close to our home because we are big star wars fans, huge. Pixar Inside Out Toilet Paper Roll Craft
Source: Meaningful Mama
If you asked my daughter what her favorite movie is she would tell you one of two things: Either Frozen or Pixar’s Inside Out. We have done plenty of frozen crafts because there endless to do, but this is the first Inside Out Craft I have stumbled upon! This tutorial will show you how to make the characters Anger, Fear, Sadness, and our favorite, Joy. They turned out awesome and are made out of a toilet paper roll and only a few other items. If you haven’t seen the movie do it right now, and if you have then I highly recommend this craft!
Cardboard Tube Zebra
Source: Crafts by Amanda
I have a quote I love to say to my kids when they are upset about something and that is “a zebra cannot change its stripes.” My kids are constantly whining about things I, and they, cannot change. Well, I was having one of those moments and I was complaining to my husband about my ever-changing work schedule. Sometimes, you just have to get home and complain about work for 3 hours…right? Well, I guess my little Casey was getting sick and tired of it because she yelled:
“Mommy, a zebra cannot change its SPOTS!”
Even though she botched the saying it was adorable and she was right. If you want to teach your children all about why a Zebra cannot change its stripes or just have a Zebra lover on your hands this is the perfect project for you!
Dragon Pencil Pot
Source: Baker Ross
This dragon pencil pot is a perfect desk decoration for your fire mouth lovers. As aesthetically pleasing as it is, it’s really quite simple to make! Mitch has had this in his bedroom for over a year now and he keeps his markers in it. He’s quite the artist actually… Hmm, I wonder where he gets that from?
DIY Toilet Paper Tube Puppets
Source: Skip To My Lou
With the constant enhancement of technology, things that we enjoyed as kids just don’t do it for our little millennials anymore. They would rather be posted up with their video games, iPads, and in front of the TV… BUT, puppets are still and will always be a hit. Kids love the imaginative style of making and acting out puppet shows, and you can even combine some technology and film it for them. These toilet tube puppets touch on the famous “3 little pigs story” and will guide you on how to make the pigs, the wolf, and even the house. This project is something that could be worked on a little at a time and when it’s finally finished you can sit back and enjoy the play
Hanging Bat Craft
Source: Buggy and Buddy
I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before, but my husband is an absolute weirdo. I was on a girls trip with a couple of work girlfriends and he face timed me so I could say goodnight to the kids like I usually do (when I get lucky enough to get away)
Well, this time when I picked up I face timing with a DEAD BAT! What? Why? Turns out, the bat had come in through the fireplace and our kitty got to it… and well… That was the end of the bat, unfortunately… My husband thought it would be funny to facetime me…. No. Bats are ugly creatures in real life but this DIY hanging bat is absolutely adorable! It’s not just your average paper craft because you can also hang it on a house plant or from a lamp during Halloween time and it makes such a spooky and cute decoration. This is a must do!
